The Malawi Communication Regulatory Authority (MACRA) has decried low funding in the implementation of the National Addressing System (NAS) ahead of its 2025 target.

According to the authority, the system is a national asset that is vital for facilitating location identification, public service delivery and support finance and trade.

MACRA Director General Daud Suleman, said the authority has successfully covered the country’s cities and planning to cover ten districts in the 2023/2025 financial year.

Suleman added that the authority is in the process of reviewing a communication Act to make physical infrastructure a critical national infrastructure so that anyone found vandalizing the assets should be penalized.
