At Mponela Trade Centre in Dowa District, a 37-year-old driver named Mabvuto Malilana was arrested by police for causing death by reckless driving.
According to the Mponela Police spokesperson, Macpatso Msadala, incident unfolded when Malilana was operating a Nissan UD Lorry, traveling from Bowe towards Madisi.
Tragically, he collided with a pedestrian identified as Arnold Kalinduna, aged 43, who was walking in the opposite direction near Chimkoka Primary School.
Kalinduna sustained severe internal injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Bowe Health Centre.
Initially fleeing the scene, Malilana voluntarily turned himself in to the police today.
