Police in Mchinji have arrested two Mozambican nationals for alledgedly being found in possession of a live pangolin.

The suspects have been identified as Jackson Yakobe, aged 40, and Selemani Felix ,46, all from Jawulani village in the area of Chief Katsabola, Chifunde district, Tete Province in Mozambique.

Mchinji police spokesperson, Limbani Mpinganjira said the two were arrested at Kadziyang’ane trade centre in the border district when they were allegedly looking for a possible market for the endangered animal.

Meanwhile, the animal has been handed over to the Department of National Parks and Wildlife for safe keeping.
