Clinical Officer in Mchinji Sentenced to 48 Years for Defiling 7-Year-Old Girl

The Lilongwe High Court has convicted and sentenced a clinical officer at Mchinji district hospital to 48 years imprisonment for defiling a 7- year-old girl.
The convict, Lovemore Amanzi Phiri, aged 40, defiled the minor in December 2020 at Longwe Village in Mchinji at the end of the party he organised at his house.
In the case, State Prosecutor Cecilia Zangazanga paraded four witnesses including the victim herself, a doctor and a police officer.
Amanzi Phiri, aged 40, hails from Kamoza, village, in the area of Traditional Authority Mkumbira in Nkhatabay district.
