Two men are in police custody over alleged theft of armoured cables at Chileka Airport in Blantyre worth K7 million.

According to Chileka police publicist Jonathan Philipo, the two have been identified as 31 year old ex-convict Dalitso Lizimba and Alfred Katchana ,35.

Phillipo, says they received a report on May 17 2023 from a telecommunication official from the department of civil aviation based at the airport that unknown people had dug and stolen 350 metres of 4 core armuored cables.

Following investigations into the report , police detectives nabbed Lizimba and Katchana leading to the recovery of copper wire covers and tools that are suspected to have been used when committing the offense.

Phillipo however, said the investigations are still underway to arrest more culprits related to the case.
