In a recent development in Rumphi district, Malawi, three individuals have been apprehended by the police for reportedly being found in possession of fuel without proper documentation.

The suspects were identified as Jimmy Kambani, aged 43, Martin Kambewa, aged 36, and Edion Ng’oma, aged 48, according to Sergeant Tupeliwe Kabwilo, the district police spokesperson.

On June 3, 2023, a team from the Criminal Investigation Department of Rumphi Police Station was conducting routine observations in Rumphi urban.

During their duty, they encountered two individuals at Chikuni trading center who were allegedly in possession of 240 liters of fuel without the requisite documents.

Later in the day, at Rumphi market, they discovered another individual in possession of 45 liters of fuel, also lacking the necessary documentation.

All three suspects failed to produce the relevant documents to substantiate their possession of the fuel, leading to their arrest.

Jimmy Kambani is from Blantyre district, Martin Kambewa hails from Mulanje district, and Edion Ng’oma is from Rumphi district.
