Water supply bodies in the country have hiked their water tariffs by an average of 20%, with effect from June 1 this year due to what they claim is a significant rise in production and operational costs.
Minister of water and sanitation Abida Mia has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.
According to Mia, the decision has been made to mitigate losses which the bodies were incurring, risking them from shutting down operations.
