Gift Kanyoza, a 29-year-old man from Phalombe, has been found guilty by a magistrate court for cutting off his own biological son’s private parts. The severity of the offense has prompted the State Prosecutor to seek a harsher punishment for the offender.

During the trial, evidence was presented showing how Kanyoza deceived the boy’s mother by promising to buy items for their son. However, he betrayed their trust and committed the wicked act of severing the child’s genitals.

Kanyoza pleaded guilty to acts intended to cause grievous harm and now awaits sentencing in the high court.

First Grade Magistrate Leonard Fletcher Mtosa, acknowledging the seriousness of the crime, has referred the case to the higher court.
