Police in Mchinji District have arrested 42-year-old Bizwick Phiri, a teacher at Chafuta Primary School, for allegedly sleeping with a 13-year-old Standard 7 pupil.
Mchinji Police Station Public Relations Officer Limbani Mpinganjira has told Times 360 Malawi that Phiri on Wednesday borrowed a pen from the pupil and later asked her to follow him to the administration office.
According to Mpinganjira, upon entering the office, Phiri dragged the victim to another room where he forced her down and had sexual intercourse.
Mpinganjira said Phiri was caught red handed pulling up his trousers by the victim’s friends, who came to the office to look for her and reported the ordeal to school authorities.
He said the matter was reported to police, who immediately arrested Phiri and the victim was issued with a medical report form to go to Mchinji District Hospital for examination.
The suspect hails from Chipeya Village Traditional Authority Kapondo in Mchinji.
