Balaka district has seen the arrest of ten individuals accused of engaging in various serious criminal activities.
The arrests were made following incidents in Chendausiku and Lupanga Villages, where unidentified individuals reportedly committed acts of defilement, theft of a motorcycle, and other property-related offenses.
According to Inspector Gladson M’bumpha, the police spokesperson in Balaka, the incidents occurred between Tuesday night and Wednesday. The suspects, whose identities have not been disclosed, allegedly terrorized the villages during this time.
Among the arrested individuals is Albert Seleman, who stands accused of defiling a minor. The police have also charged the other suspects with offenses such as burglary, theft, and possession of stolen property.
