The Center for Democracy and Economic Development Initiative (CDEDI) has retaliated the need for Illovo Sugar Company to reduce Sugar prices in the country citing the current price is exorbitant for the poor to manage.
CDEDI Executive Director Slyvester Namiwa had told the press today that there was need for the ministry of Trade and the Parliamentary committee on trade to make a thorough enquiry on the prices of Sugar on the local scene.
Namiwa says his organization will not rest up untill Illovo Sugar slashes down the prices of Sugar in the country.
CDEDI has questioned the company onto why they are only planning to reduce Sugar to whole salers while sideling retailers.
The organization has hinted that there are some politicians who are benefiting from Illovo that’s why government is reluctant to cut down Sugar prices.
