State Vice President Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima on Friday met female footballer, Tabitha Chawinga at his office in the capital Lilongwe.

The development comes barely days after President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera also hosted Tabitha Chawinga.

Recently Chawinga Chawinga became the first African player to win the Italian Serie A Women Golden Boot award.

Writing on his official facebook page Chilima applauded Chawinga for her excellent performance.

“Thank you, Tabitha Chawinga for the courtesy call this morning. You have made both Malawi and Africa proud. Scoring 23 goals in 21 games in Serie A Women Football league to win the Golden Boot is no mean achievement.

“We are proud of you as a country. We will continue to celebrate and encourage you for your brand to continue growing and excelling,” wrote Chilima.

He added: “Thank you once again for the interaction today – ironically – on the day that we are commemorating the Day of the African Child the 16th of June.”
