A 23-year-old man named Jezala Banda has been sentenced to eight years in prison by the First Grade Magistrate Court in Ntchisi.

State prosecutor James Ngupa Muyila told the court that the convict committed the offence between March and April this year.

According to prosecutor, the girl said Banda defiled her three times.

Appearing in court, the accused, now convict, pleaded guilty to to the charge.

Senior Resident Magistrate Dorothy Kaluwa then sentenced the the convict to eight years imprisonment to deter other would be offenders.
