Police have arrested Arnold Wajomba, one of the owners of a Blantyre-based company, Famijo Auto Traders, for defrauding people of money amounting to K40 million meant for vehicle importation.
In a statement, national police spokesperson Peter Kalaya said they are investigating six fraud and theft cases against the company which advertises that it facilitates importation of second-hand motor vehicles from Japan on behalf of its clients.
Kalaya who confirmed that Wajomba’s accomplice is on the run, has since cautioned the public against transacting with the company adding that appropriate action is being taken to have all adverts of the company in circulation taken down.
“The service, therefore calls upon Malawians who suspect that they have been duped by the company to quickly come forward and report to their nearest Police station” reads part of the statement.
