Death has been announced of actor and playwright Thlupego Chisiza, son to theatre maestro the late Du Chisiza Jr.

Chisiza died on at Ndirande Health Centre.

Burial of the actor is set for today at HHI Cemetery in Blantyre.

Maesidiso, Thlupego’s sister has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

The renowned actor contributed immensely to the growth of theatre and the creative sector in the country, through his Lions Theatre.

He wrote several productions including a political play titled Semo, which got him arrested while on stage at Robin’s Park in Blantyre during former President Bingu wa Mutharika’s regime.

Born on March 28 1983, Thlupego hailed from Karonga District.
