Catholic congregants under the Archdiocese of Lilongwe are scheduled to hold peaceful demonstrations on June 29, 2023 in the city against legalization of same sex marriages.
The planned protest follows the ongoing court case where some right activists in the country are pushing for decriminalization of same sex marriages in the country.
The catholic faithfuls have since notified the Malawi Police Service and the Lilongwe City Council of the planned demonstrations in a letter dated June 14, 2023.
According to the letter, the peaceful demonstrations will start from Sacred Heart Catholic Palish to Parliament Building where protesters will deliver a petition.
