Police in Kanengo have arrested three men for suspecting them in connection to a series of breakings in Lilongwe
Public Relations officer for Kanengo police station  Sub Inspector Gresham Ngwira, has identified the suspects as Steve Sambandale, Jossam Bessitala and Evance Machemba.
Ngwira, has said that over the past months, unknown criminals have been terrorizing Nsungwi and surrounding areas going away with various items. For example, on the night of March 16, 2023, criminals broke into a shop belonging to Elizabeth Ngwale where they stole assorted items such as clothes, kitchen ware and flour all costing over K1 million.
“To suppress this, the law enforcers, joined by community policing members, carried out an intelligence driven patrol exercise on the night of June 19, 2023. While on duty, they arrested the three suspects who were found stealing items at a shop belonging to Rabson Mwangoga”, said Ngwira.
He added that, Police have since recovered assorted items such as wrappers, shoes and pairs of trousers costing over K600,000.00. The three are expected to appear before court soon to answer various charges.
According to Ngwira, Police are assuring people in the area of their commitment in cramping down criminals to ensure safety and security. On this note, the law enforcers warn all criminals that the law will punish them once caught.
Steve Sambandale is 25 years-old hails Songani in Zomba, Jossam Bessitala is  aged 23, from Nkhoma village in Traditional Authority Mazengera in Lilongwe and Evance Machemba is 36 years old hails from Namaunya village Traditional Authority Sabwe in Tholo District.
