Police in Phalombe is keeping in custody two men for allegedly being found with human tissues and trespassing on a grave yard..
Public Relations Officer for Phalombe Police Jimmy Kapanja, has identified the suspects as Charles Katunga and Amos Magombo.
Kapanja has said that on June 2, 2023 police officers at Migowi Trading Centre received a tip-off from a business man, that the two were offering for sale corpses of infants.
Kapanja said police raided the office of the business man which led to the arrest of the two suspects, immediately upon their arrival.
“Upon searching their bags, they found two decomposed bodies of infants.
The two were taken to Phalombe Police Station for interrogation where it was discovered that they trespassed and vandalized a graveyard at Jaden Village in Traditional Authority Kaduya.
He added that clinical officers verified the were of newborn twins and police ordered a re-burial.
The two suspects will appear before court to answer charges of possessing human tissues (corpses) and trespassing on a graveyard.
Charles Katunga is 50 years-old hails from from Mgona Village and Amos Magombo is 63 years-old hails from Njaya Village, both from Traditional Authority Kaduya in the District.
