Government through the ministry of education has disclosed its plans to start offering degrees and diplomas to primary school teachers who enroll in public Teachers Training Colleges (TTCs) in the country.
Zizwa Msukama Director of Teacher Education Development in the Ministry of Education has said that the introduction of degree and diploma programs will help improve education standards in the country, which have lowered in recent years.
Msukama was speaking in Mzuzu at the official opening of training for leadership skill for headteachers, zone leaders and Primary School Advisors (Pea).
He has therefore said that currently, the ministry is engaging relevant stakeholders on how best the programme can be implemented to be at par with other countries in the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) region.
