Malawi Congress Party (MCP), party in Tonse Alliance has distanced itself from allegations that it is behind the political violence which allegedly occurred ahead of a political rally which the party held in Bangwe last weekend.
On Saturday there were chaotic scenes at Desert Ground in Bangwe where four people, including one woman were hacked and rushed to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH).
It is said that the said victims were hacked by youths of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) who were armed with panga knives.
Due to this incident, opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) through its spokesperson Shadreck Namalomba accused MCP of being behind the fracas.
But MCP Publicity spokesperson Ezekiel Ching’oma has faulted the DPP for dragging MCP into political verbal war regarding the violence which he says the party is not aware of.
Ching’oma said MCP is a law abiding party that believes in political tolerance unlike the DPP, which he said was attacking people who held different political views during its reign.
