Police in Ntcheu have confirmed the the death of a four-year-old girl after being hit by a motor vehicle at Zalengera village, along the Balaka-Salima part of the M5 road.

Ntcheu Police Spokesperson, Rabecca Ndiwate gave more details saying the accident happened 2 days ago. She said the driver of the Toyota Sienta, registration number BZ 1804 Feston Kamtimaleka, was driving from the direction of Balaka heading towards Salima with four passengers on board.

Ndiwate said upon arrival at Zalengera, Kamtimaleka hit the young girl, who was crossing the road from the right to the left.

“Following the impact, the girl sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Sharpevale Health Centre in the district,” Ndiwate said

Police continue to investigate on the matter.
