Lawmaker for Mulanje Limbuli Constituency has asked the ministry of Homeland and security to consider providing many police vehicles in his area that will help boost security.
The remarks comes as Police have started recovering some properties that were looted at Edger Lodge in the area on Monday during a Fracas.
Some irate community members ransacked and went away with everything belonging to Edgar’s Lodge which belongs to Edison Nachuma.
The Mob claimed that the lodge hosts some suspected Mozambicans and Malawians robbers who are robbing people in the area.
These suspected robbers are also the one’s who are alleged to have killed a certain business person in the area.
According to member of Parliament for the area Daudi Chida the area has no single Police vehicle which most of the times it’s difficult for travel to some parts of the constituency when incidences like the one that happened on Monday occurs.
Chida says the area security has lapsed because most of the Police officers were affected by the Cyclone Freddy but government did not assist them though request was made and this is making them to be reluctant to disburse their duty professionally.
“I have for several times together with other officials from Malawi Police service asking for help from government to assist our Police officers who were heavily hit by the Cyclone but to no avail”.Narrated Chida.
The lawmaker says he is currently in talks with the ministry of Homeland and security on the matter.
During during Monday Fracas Police were overpowered by the mob and this made them leave the place which made the irate people to go away with the lodges property.
Meanwhile Police have arrested some people in relations to the same.
