Mzuzu University (Mzuni) Vice Chancellor John Kalenga Saka, a professor in chemistry, has bid farewell after working for the public institution for about four years.

Saka, who was appointed in July 2019, replaced Robert Ridley who withdrew his services in 2017.

Speaking at a farewell reception held in Mzuzu on Thursday, Saka said Mzuni is on the right trajectory but requires those remaining to be diligent.

In her remarks, Principal Secretary for Education Chikondano Mussa said Saka has made tremendous contribution towards higher education in Malawi.

Mzuni Council chairperson, Ambassador Hawa Ndilowe, said Saka had great attitude and was willing to learn new things.

Among many milestones, Ndilowe said Saka pioneered the performance management system which is currently being implemented across all staff.
