Justice Redson Kapindu has ruled that Chilima be given ample time to go through the charge sheet before taking plea in the corruption case.

Kapindu has also ordered ACB to furnish Chilima with disclosures of the case before the Vice President takes plea within 7 days.

Kapindu has since adjourned the case to July 19, when Chilima will take plea in the matter.

But ACB lawyer Chrispin Khunga has pleaded with the court that 7 days is not enough to furnish Chilima with the disclosures, asking the court to give the graft busting body at least 21 days to do that.

According to Khunga, the information is in digital form and involving several accused and the ACB needs ample time to isolate the issues pertaining to Chilima.

But Kapindu wondered what the ACB has been doing since Chilima was arrested on November 25, 2022.

He has since varied the plea and directions date to August 1, however saying hearing on the bail conditions in the case will continue on July 19.
