Government through Ministry of Agriculture has ordered the Smallholder Farmers Fertilizer Revolving Fund of Malawi (SFFRFM) to issue out 340 bags of fertilizer for some 340 beneficiaries of Affordable Input Program (AIP) in Phalombe who only accessed one bag of the commodity despite paying for two bags of the commodity.
According to a Press statement dated 30 June 2023, the order has come following the investigations which were conducted by the police and other stakeholders leading to the discovery that the second bag was not issued to the beneficiaries from Waruma Extension Planning Area (EPA) in the district.
Chief Executive Officer for SFFRFM Richard Chikunkhuzeni has confirmed receipt of the order, and said that the processes are under way to deliver the said fertilizer to the beneficiaries.
