Mangochi district has registered a decline in road accidents by 22 percent in the first half of the year 2023.
Spokesperson for Mangochi Police Station Amina Tepani Daudi, ha s confirmed that the number of road accidents have reduced from 69 in 2022 to 54 this year.
Meanwhile, Daudi has said that there have been a reduction in fatalities with 12 lives lost in 2023 from 24 lives lost last year.
Daudi has attributed a decline to a number of initiatives including strategic placement of traffic wardens in accident prone areas and collaboration on road safety awareness with the Department Of Road Traffic Directorate and Safety Service.
