Some members of the National Governing Council (NGC) for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) have blasted the recent NGC meeting, saying the meeting was bulldozed and all resolutions that came out of it were imposed.

DPP Deputy Director of political affairs Baxter Kita said this during a media briefing held in the capital Lilongwe.

According to Kita, after the meeting, the members were not given time to comment on the agenda.

He said the meeting was imposed on the NGC members.

The Deputy Director said this is the time for the party to sit down and plan how best to move forward and not what happened in Mangochi.

On his part, Welani Chilenga, Deputy Director of Research and Training said the meeting was also attended by some people who are not NGC members.

He added the DPP should focus on rebuilding itself to form a strong party ahead of 2025 elections instead of trying to appease certain individuals.

Effort to talk to DPP spokesperson Shadreck Namalomba proved futile.
