Government has criticized statements by the opposition Democratic Progressive Party which has described as careless spending of funds amounting to over 300 million Kwacha as Malawi recently held Independence Day Celebrations.
This follows a statement that the DPP has issued as signed by Shadreck Namalomba, the party’s spokesperson who has described the funds as too exorbitant given the current economic status.
However, Moses Kumkuyu, Government spokesperson has said the former ruling party always has political eyes as the funds were already approved in the national budget.
Kumkuyu has also said that the stand of government is that Independence Day celebrations coincide with reflections of national unity which must not be undermined.
