Malawi Congress Party (MCP) aspiring Member of Parliament for Blantyre City South Lunzu Constituency Alex Chimwala has asked the Tonse Alliance government of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to flood Machinjiri Township with various development projects.

Chimwala said this during a development rally organized by MCP at South Lunzu Primary School ground on Saturday where Minister of Information and Digitalization was the guest of honor.

In his speech Chimwala said Machinjiri Township is extremely behind in terms of development as compared to other areas in the Southern part of the country.

He then appealed to the government to consider renovating the South Lunzu Magistrate Court which was torched in 2016 by angry villagers.

“The people of Machinjiri admits of being on the wrong side and we appeal to the government through you honorable Kunkuyu to consider renovating the damaged court. People from this area travel a long distance to Limbe to access justice,” said Chimwala.

Chimwala also asked government to upgrade the Area 5-Mapanga-Zomba road turn off via area 10 to a tarmac road, saying act as bypass road.

He also asked the Tonse Alliance government to consider constructing a youth Centre in the area.

Chimwala said the Youth Centre will help to keep the youths in the area busy and not indulging themselves in immoral behaviors.

Reacting to this Kunkuyu who is also Campaign Director in MCP said government will look into challenges raised.

“Tonse Alliance government is a listening government and will do something on the challenges regarding the roads network in the area, court and others. We hope something will be done on the matter,” said Kunkuyu.

Kunkuyu then applauded Chimwala for putting the welfare of the people in Machinjiri at heart and he pledged to workhand in hand with him in developing the area.
