Three people have tragically lost their lives, and six others are nursing various degrees of injuries following a devastating collision between two vehicles at Gwaza village, located near Mthandizi on the Ntcheu-Dedza stretch of the M1 road in Malawi.

According to Ntcheu Police Spokesperson Rabecca Ndiwate, the heart-wrenching accident occurred on a Tuesday morning when Yusuf John, the driver of a Nissan Diesel lorry with registration number MHG 6492, was on his way from Balaka to Ntcheu. The lorry was carrying a total of twenty passengers at the time of the incident.

As they reached Gwaza village near Mthandizi, tragedy struck when the lorry collided with a stationary vehicle, identified as a freightliner with registration number ZA 1199/TO 6696, positioned on the nearside lane.

The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the loss of three lives, and the injured passengers were rushed to Ntcheu District Hospital for medical attention.
