A 32-year-old Simon Jere, has died in a road accident that occurred on July 23, 2023 around 16:00 hours involving a motor vehicle registration number CK 7725 Toyota Sienta and an unregistered motorcycle at Champhira Engen filling station along Jenda-Mzimba M1 road in the district.
On the material day, John Mbowe was driving a motor vehicle registration number CK 7725 Toyota Sienta, heading the direction of Mzimba from Jenda upon reaching Champhira Engen filling station he hit a rider, Simon Jere now deceased who was heading the same direction and was trying to turn to the right side of the road.
Following the impact, the rider sustained a dip cut on the head, he was taken to Jenda Rural Hospital where he was referred to Mzimba district Hospital and died while receiving treatment. The driver and passengers escaped unhurt while the motor vehicle had its wind shield cracked, bonnet depressed, nearside headlamp broken and front nearside fender damaged.
Jenda Police Station is therefore advising all road users to always adhere to road safety measures such as putting on crash helmets, sharing the road with other users, signalling when trying to make a turn, avoid over-speeding and at all cost avoid driving or riding under the influence of alcohol.
