First Grade Magistrate Court in Ntchisi has convicted and sentenced 24 year-old man to nine years Imprisonment with Hard Labour (IHL) for defiling a 15 year old girl.

State Prosecutor Sub Inspector Dalitso Ng’oma has identified the convict as Henry Kabuluzi.

The court  heard through Ng’oma that on June 18, 2023, the victim with her friends were going to watch soccer and on their way, Kabuluzi met with the victim who told her to have sex with him in exchange of K 5,000 but the victim denied.

“Kabuluzi persuaded the victim who later agreed and went to a nearby mountain where he had sex with her but did not give her the agreed money,” he told the court.

Ng’oma added that, the victim later reported the matter to her father who reported to Malomo Police Unit.

Medical examination from Malomo Health Centre confirmed penetration.

Kabuluzi pleaded guilty to the charge and asked for leniency saying he takes care of his aging parents and that he was the bread winner of his family.

The State requested for stiffer penalty saying such cases continue to occur in the district despite stiffer sentences given to people.

First Grade Magistrate Dorothy Kalua said defilement cases are very rampant in the district and handed Kabuluzi the custodial sentence to deter would be offenders.

Henry Kabuluzi hails from Mantoni Village, Sub Traditional Authority (STA) Msauka in the district.
