Dorothy Mussa, a member of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and councillor for Nanjiwa Ward, has been elected as the new council chairperson for Mchinji District.

In the election, Mussa secured 12 votes out of 17 votes cast, while Aaron Chidzanja came second with 3 votes, and Denis Lazaro came third with 2 votes.

Nickson Chikutu emerged as the new council vice chairperson after defeating Martha Dzanja by a margin of 12 votes to 5.

In her acceptance remarks, Dorothy Mussa expressed optimism about her leadership, believing it will help the council secretariat achieve its desired development targets.
