Vice-President Saulos Chilima is scheduled to appear in court this morning to take a plea in a case where he is accused of receiving a bribe from businessperson Zunneth Sattar to allegedly influence the award of public contracts.

His sympathisers have already gathered at the High Court (Financial Division) in Lilongwe, anticipating his arrival.

Additionally, the court is expected to rule on an application to have his bail conditions varied.

One of the current bail conditions requires Chilima to report to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) every three months and surrender his traveling documents to the State.
