The Malawi Police Service has reported of a hike in suicide cases in the country after the first half of the year.

National Police Spokesperson,Peter Kalaya has indicated that 256 people have committed suicide compared to 135 recorded during the same period last year.

According to Kalaya, out of the total, 226 are men whilst 30 are women.

Meanwhile, Kalaya has called on people going through depression to visit victim support unit or any social psycho support institution for mental support.
