The Eastern Region registered a 14 percent reduction in road accidents from January to June this year, compared to the same period last year, police in the region say.
Eastern Region Police Commissioner, Violet Magwaya, has said that the police recorded 185 road accidents in that period this year as compared to last year’s 214.
She said this on the sidelines of a Regional Executive Committee meeting currently underway in Zomba.
Magwaya has since applauded the development, attributing it to the cordial relationship that exists between the police and community members.
Meanwhile, criminal cases in the region were up by 0.4 percent in the region, in the same period.
