Parliament on Thursday afternoon, observed a minute of silence in honour of the late Peter Fatchi a former cabinet minister and Attorney General.

Leader of the House Richard Chimwendo Banda told the house that government is shocked by the death of Peter Fatch whose contribution to the nation as a cabinet minister and Attorney General was immense.

Also taking to the floor, President of the United Democratic Front (UDF) Lilian Patel said the late Fatchi helped a lot in shaping the party and he always stood by the law, defended the constitution and was a strict professional.

And Secretary General of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Eisenhower Mkaka told Parliament that President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has ordered that the late Peter Fatchi be buried with military honours.

Peter Fatchi died on Wednesday at Mwaiwathu Hospital in Blantyre.
