Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has elected Wendy Nalumo as its new Director of Women for the Central Region.

Nalumo emerged as the winner after amassing 180 votes out of 389 votes counted at an elective meeting held in Lilongwe.

MCP Director of Elections, Elias Chakwera, called on the new women’s leader to take the party to new heights and ensure women in the region are united.

In her acceptance speech, the newly elected director of women expressed her excitement for emerging winner in the election.

She has been acting in the position since the death of Lucy Kalebe in March this year.

Nalumo has since promised to mobilise and unite all women from Tonse Alliance in public events.
