Police in Mchinji have arrested four men for being found in possession of medical drugs and two men over possession of Cannabis Sativa without permission.
Public Relations Officer for Mchinji Police Limbani Mpinganjira, has said that the arrests follow an exercise conducted around Mchinji Boma, Mkanda Trading Center and Mchinji Border Trading Center.
Meanwhile, police have also seized assorted medical drugs which include indocide, diclophenac, aspirin and panadol and cannabis sativa, pending examination by relevant government agencies.
The operation, currently underway, is being conducted by detectives from most parts of the Sub-Saharan African region including Malawi and it is dubbed “Operation Usalama IX.”
The suspects, found in possession of medical drugs, have been identified as Smart Katsabola, aged 29, Chikondi Phiri, 27, Frank Menyani, 38, from Traditional Authority Zulu and Davison Zakeyo, 21 from Traditional Authority Mkanda while Bodmas Chungwe, 37, and Jailosi Michael, 38, from Traditional Authority Mkanda, have been found in possession of cannabis sativa and expected to appear in court soon.
