Former President Peter Mutharika who is also leader of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has congratulated the newly elected CCAP Blantyre Synod General Secretary Reverend Anderson Juma.

Reverend Juma outclassed Reverend Billy Gama and two other contenders on the post.

The polls also saw Reverend Humphrey Zgambo being elected as Synod Moderator and Rev. Annie Kapinda as vice synod moderator.

In a statement released on Tuesday signed Mutharika’s spokesperson Shadreck Namalomba, the former President wished the new executive well.

“We thank God for many are called, but only few are chosen. May the good Lord continue to guide you as you serve Him in the new roles,” reads part of the statement.

In the elections Rev Juma won with 192 votes while former General Secretary Rev. Billy Gama amassed 186 votes.
