The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has revealed reasons for the arrest of political activist Bon Kalindo.

According to National Police Spokesperson Peter Kalaya, Kalindo’s arrest is related to a warrant of arrest issued Monday this week for disobeying bail conditions.

In January 2022, Kalindo was arrested on allegations of illegal connection of electricity at his house.

His colleague Redson Munlo who together planned to hold hold anti-government demonstrations at State House has confirmed of the development.

Munlo said Kalindo was arrested when the two went to the Lilongwe District Commissioner’s office to hand over the court ruling which allowed them to hold the demos 100 meters away from State House.

Meanwhile, Kalindo has been taken to area 30 Police headquarters.
