Police in Nsanje police have arrested two men over alleged illegal possession and transportation of fuel in containers without a permit.

Deputy Spokesperson for Nsanje Police Constable Declare Mbukwa, has identified the two suspects  as Bashiri Mahommed and Hammad Saleman.

According to Mbukwa, police worked on a tip off that Mahommed allegedly hired a one tone motor vehicle registration number BY5470 from  Seleman to buy petrol from Tengani Engen Filling Station at Tengani trading centre where they allegedly filled five drums.

Police along with the Officer In charge, Assistant Commissioner of police Dr. Joseph Mutupha ambushed them and seized 1,000 litres of petrol and the vehicle.

Bashiri Mahommedis 38 years-old while  Hammad Saleman is 36 both hails from Ligobwa village Traditional Authority Ndamera in the district.
