Police in Mchinji is keeping in custody a 44-year-old man for suspecting him that he allegedly canal knowledge with two young boys.
Spokesperson for Mchinji Police Constable Limbani Mpinganjira, has identified the suspect as James Makunganya who is also an ex-convict was released in 2021on the charge of defilement.
According to Mpinganjira, the incident occurred in August 2023 as the suspect is a chips and Irish potatoes seller has been enticing the two boys aged 8 and 12 to sleep with him (anally) in exchange for K500.
He said Makunganya was arrested after the parents reported the matter to Community Policing Forum (CPF) members and the suspect admitted to the allegations
Makunganya is currently appearing in court answering a charge of Buggery, contrary to section 153(A) of the penal code.
James Makunganya hails from Masautso Village, Traditional Authority Zulu in Mchinji.
