Three people died while two others sustained various degrees of injuries after a saloon vehicle they were traveling in collided with a Bus at Bawi along the M1 road in Ntcheu.
Ntcheu Police spokesperson Rabecca Ndiwate,  has identified the deceased as 42 year-old Linnet Mzande, Sara Chifuniro, 15 and Success Chifuniro, aged 4, who were passengers of the saloon vehicle, a Toyota Passo.
Ndiwate said the accident happened on Friday morning as the two vehicles were traveling from the Balaka direction heading to Ntcheu.
“Upon arrival at the said place, the driver of the bus, Emmanuel Mangani, who had 56 people on board, started overtaking and in the process collided with the Toyota Passo which was being driven by Bonwell Nampinga and was heading the same direction but was turning right,” Ndiwate said.
She said due to the impact, the three; a female adult, a young girl and a young boy, were pronounced dead upon arrival at Balaka District Hospital due to severe head injuries while two others, Nampinga and another passenger of the Passo, sustained various degrees of injuries.
