The Board of Directors for Northern Region Water Board (NRWB) has appointed Francis Munthali as the new Chief Executive Officer of NRWB, replacing Engineer Titus Mtegha who retired last year.

In a statement, NRWB Board chairperson Frank Mwenifumbo said the appointment of Munthali, who has been serving as Director of Finance since 2006, is with effect from September 4, 2023.

It reads: “Prior to his appointment, Mr Munthali acted as Chief Executive Officer for NRWB from January 2023. Mr Munthali joined NRWB in 2006 as Director of Finance. Prior to joining NRWB in 2006, Mr Munthali worked for a multinational energy company, BP Malawi (now PUMA Energy) for a period of nine years, where he held several senior positions.

“Mr Munthali brings along vast knowledge and experience in leadership, strategic management, financial management, risk management, performance management and organization development coupled with a unique set of skills, perspectives, and relationships to lead NRWB into the future.

Mwenifumbo said building on what NRWB has already accomplished, Munthali is well placed to further grow its business as the Board seeks to realise its vision of ensuring access to potable water for all.

Munthali is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration obtained from Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute (ESAMI).
