The High Court in Lilongwe has today found the wife of late Professor Peter Mumba, Annie with a case to answer on charges of killing her husband.

The suspect was arrested in 2020 after postmortem results had indicated that Mumba who was a professor of chemistry at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (Luanar) in Lilongwe had died of acute poisoning.

In his ruling, Justice Mzondi Mvula observed that the conduct displayed by the wife was suspicious saying she delayed to seek for medical help when her late husband fell ill.

The court has since directed that the defence stage of the case will resume in October this year.

In an interview defence lawyer Innocent Kubwalo said the defence team is ready for the next stage and will parade five witnesses.

The suspect hails from Chituka Village T/A Malengamzoma in Nkhata Bay district.
