The body of well-known right activist Leon Matanda has been laid to rest at the area 18 Cemetery in Lilongwe.
Matanda collapsed to death at his home in Lilongwe yesterday.
In his speech, Ntcheu central parliamentarian Dr. Albert Mbawala who represented President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera at the funeral said the late Leon Matanda’s contribution to Malawi’s democracy and governance in the civic space will “greatly be missed.”
He said president Chakwera is saddened with the demise of the late Matanda adding the country has lost a freedom fighter who shall always be remembered for his selfless ambitions.
