Longest serving editorial contributors for Nation Publications Limited (NPL) Leona Chilemba who was also know as  Aunt Elise has died at 95 of age after suffering stroke.
Chilemba has worked with NPL through her children’s column titled Fun and Games between February 1994 and April 2017.
Reacting to her passing, NPL deputy chief executive officer Alfred Ntonga said Aunt Elise’s death is a huge loss to the NPL family because of her passion for the brand.
“Even after her retirement, she never stopped advising us on areas she felt we needed to do better. She was practically part of the NPL family,” he said.
Ntonga said Chilemba took the role of a mother for all at NPL as well.
“Her column on children was well curated in that it was not just exciting, but stimulating for children to think and reason better,” he said.
“She was originally American and met her husband Dr Dick Chilemba in the 1960s. They got married shortly after and have had great marriage ever since.
In Her entire life. Elise has been worked in various roles including medicine, teaching and writing.
Aunt Elise Leona Chilemba was born on July 16 1928 and on September 5, 2023.
