The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has said Member of Parliament for Mwanza Central Nicholas Harry Dausi remains fired as National Governing Council member.
Earlier this week the disciplinary committee of the party led by former Minister of Agriculture Dr. George Chaponda fired Dausi for misconduct.
A day later court nullified the party’s recently constituted disciplinary committee on the ground that it is unconstitutional.
The development sparked debate with many claiming that the ruling means Dausi’s firing is invalid.
But speaking in an interview with the press DPP’s legal advisor Charles Mhango said Dausi’s firing still stands.
“The court has not said that all decisions by the disciplinary committee are nullified. The nullification starts from now onwards and it does not backdate. The development means that its previous decisions still stand,” Mhango said.
He further said the party will challenge the court’s nullification of the committee.
Dausi is yet to comment on the matter.
