The family of a 10-year-old girl, Ellen Chawanda, who was killed by a security dog at Crossroads complex in Lilongwe has written a letter demanding compensation from the Security Company and owners of the premises where the incident occurred.
Family lawyer Gift Katundu has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.
According to Katundu, the family’s aim is to ensure justice prevails in the matter.
He said the compensation is for loss of life, loss of dependence and the deceased’s sister is also suing the security company for nervous shock she suffered at the sight of the incident.
Ellen Chawanda was walking by with her elder sister enroute from visiting a relative at Maula Prison when she was attacked the dog that had no mouth muzzle.
